Being a mentor has been enjoyable and a privilege. I am willing to give up time and so is my mentee. I am thrilled when I check out with his parent that they and he want our meet ups to continue. I have witnessed first-hand a huge boost in his confidence which means he presents as a self-assured individual.
Encouraging some discussions about feelings, actions and behaviour have helped him to be more reflective and calmer in some situations. He has had some reprimands but also merit awards from school and is enjoying how good it feels to receive praise.
